In the beginning of January, only days after Petkov Office has been created, minister of environment and waters and vice climate premier Borislav Sandov asked coal plants to be closed, ekonovini.bg stated.

He launched a mass media attack on TPP, saying that by 2025, because of economic reasons, they will stop power generation themselves, because of carbon quotas. In a series of interviews with Bulgarian media then Sandov stated that “the closing of the coal plants in the Marishky pool is overdue".

As Eco News has repeatedly warned, until the very end of the terminated mandate of the Petkov cabinet, Sandov worked actively for liquidation of all thermal power plants in Bulgaria, including Bobov dol, Ruse, Varna and many others.

"In the short term, some of the commitments seem very difficult to be performed due to all the economic uncertainty, the high prices at the moment. We should also talk about whether all the commitments appeared meaningful before continuing to be so", the vice prime minister of the management of the European funds Atanas Pekanov. commented on BNT in September.

It became clear from Pekanov's words even then that the regular cabinet, without making it public, had made a heavy commitment to the European Commission for liquidation of this industry that is important to national security in which more than 50,000 people work. In addition, the closure of the thermal power plant will also lead to destroying the entire mining industry.

All this is happening because Borislav Sandov was promoting the interests of the energy lobby related to the Green Deal and the construction of renewable energy sources (RES). The large-scale projects under the Plan for recovery like the huge, and unknown to the world, storage battery of electricity would be financed with 1.5 billion euros.

This money would enter an extremely narrow circle of companies that have been around for years market leaders in the construction and operation of RES.

It was this round that appointed the green NGO activist Sandov as Minister of environment and waters.

And he duly repaid.

In recent days, as a result of the scandal surrounding the coal mines headquarters, all political parties deny that they pushed for the closure of them.

However, another impression is made - there is not a word from Borislav Sandov.

The usually talkative Sandov, who is a frequent guest at the nationals televisions, has humbled himself.

It is strange that he who is the chief culprit is not mentioned, nor by the politicians, nor the media.

There are also no comments on the subject from the always active ecologists from "Green movement", the party that is part of "Democratic Bulgaria", as well as the the green activists from their close circles.

In the end, it will turn out that quietly, without taking responsibility, Borislav Sandov will be the main cone to blame for the negative consequences on business and the shocking increase in household electricity prices that will derive from the decision to reduce the carbon emissions of thermal power plants to 40% of those in 2019, which is one of the years in which they were the lowest.
